Aceh Gayo Arabica green beans are grown in the lush highlands of the Gayo region in Aceh, Northern Sumatra, at elevations ranging from 1,200 to 1,700 meters above sea level. This origin is celebrated for producing some of Indonesia’s finest Arabica, known for its full body, mild acidity, and rich flavor complexity. The beans often carry notes of dark chocolate, herbal spice, and subtle floral or tropical fruit undertones. Cultivated by smallholder farmers—many of whom are part of cooperatives—Gayo coffee is typically processed using the traditional wet-hulled (giling basah) method, which contributes to its signature earthy depth and smooth finish. With its strong reputation in both domestic and international specialty markets, Aceh Gayo Arabica continues to be a cornerstone of Indonesia’s premium coffee landscape.
